Current Affairs- The Important Part of any Competitive Exam



Current Affairs are today considered as one of the most importantly studied subject everywhere. From School to college and further while preparing for competitive exams- current affairs are everywhere! Even many of the workplaces and companies demand its employees to have sound knowledge of what’s going on. Let’s talk about school- Every school has made it compulsory to teach General Awareness and Current Affairs as a dedicated subject. This is a good practice for students to get acquainted with the current affairs around the world and stay updated.  
 
What are Current affairs? So basically, Current Affairs refer to the important incidents that have occurred in the world and hold social importance to it. The crucial role of current affairs can obviously seen with the various eligibility criteria adopted by various job sector, where people are hired based on their knowledge of their surroundings, especially Public and Government sector.

Knowledge of current affairs works on two levels. For some people it is just knowledge of an event that occurred, while for others it is a very important part of their exam syllabus. The biggest importance of currents affairs can be seen in Competitive exams. Exams like IAS, MAT, CAT, JEE etc dedicate a major section of their question paper to current affairs with huge marks aligned to them. In fact, today, competitive exams are more inclined towards current affairs. For example, in UPSC exams, since the previous year’s more questions consist of current affairs. Even, LLB exam, it is formally declared that current affair questions will be maximum in number.  Even maximum of interviews consist questions related to current affairs where the interviewer checks the candidate’s presence of mind and how up-to-dated he or she is. 

Therefore, for students appearing for any competitive exam like civil service exam, bank exam, and insurance sector jobs etc it is very essential to stay updated with the latest happenings.
Preparing for current affairs is not that a big task. Reading newspapers every day, keeping a note on magazines is very helpful. You can switch on the electronic media like FM channels, TV News channels etc in order to stay updated.

You can also study with current affairs books by Arihant publications and other major publication houses in India. Another mediums are social media like facebook, twitter as well as participating in quizzes is another fun way to get a gist of current affairs. It is simple; some people update themselves to stay vigilant, others do it for exam preparation- in both the ways, it is smart to keep yourself updated and connected to the world always.
